Charming Green Kitchens – The Colorado Nest

I think about color a lot. Some of it is for my job and some of it is just who I am and what lights me up. Green has long been favorite color of mine. The last few years I’ve done multiple green kitchens and it’s been awesome. Green looks particularly good with wood and seems to bring joy to warm colors. Most of the rooms that follow have very warm whites, almost yellows to blushes. I remember when white couldn’t be white enough for people and it’s so great to have warm whites back in the home. I’ve always liked the warmer shades of white and I’m happy they’re back in style.

Love this color green and the interesting skewed checkerboard splash. (Photo Source)

Checkerboard is still everywhere. I think it might have hit peak popularity a few years ago, but I still see it and I’m still spec’ing it. What do you think? Are you tired of it? Do you think it looks dated?

I love so much about this. The handpainted splash, the chevron floor, the marble at the stove, that green! I could go on. (Photo Source)
So many great details in this room too. (Photo Source)
The all over warm color drenched room makes me immediately feel like I’m somewhere special. How about that fabulous green stone counter and splash? (Photo Source)

The above photo is from Pierce and Ward who are fabulous and cool in a way that I will never be. I know this and acknowledge it yet I still want to be like them. Look at the turquoise lamp set near the sink. Doesn’t that color light up your eyes next to the Cover Girl Concealer wall and cabinet color? Yes. Yes it does.

Great example of how red oak cabinets can look updated. Love the green lowers and I think the trendy checkerboard splash works in favor for the red oak uppers. (Photo Source)

The kitchen above reminds me of kitchens from the 90’s. There is some nostalgia there and I like to see it look fresh again.

Love the window in this kitchen with the street view. Another great use of wood for a vintage look combined with green in the form of wallpaper this time. Beautiful space and, of course, checkerboard on the floor. (Photo Source)

I wish that I could be like the cool kids
