Crispy Air Fried Smoked Paprika Chickpeas

I’ve been attempting to up my exercise lately, which is all well and good but, with exercise comes appetite and if I burn off 300 calories, it makes me want to eat 1,000, so some healthy snacks were needed to stop me munching on crisps and chocolate.

I bought a couple of packs of protein bars in Tesco which were fab but it’s always healthier and cheaper to make your own snacks at home, so I decided to make some air-fried chickpeas in my NInja Multicooker and picked up a tin of chickpeas for 50p.

Since discovering smoked paprika last year, I add it to almost everything – I love its smoky, barbecue taste and I knew it would work well with chickpeas. As I rooted around my spice shelf for the paprika, I saw my jar of onion granules and decided to add some of that too. You can, of course, use any spices you fancy – curry, chilli or garlic, for example.

These air-fried chickpeas are crispy, savoury, incredibly moreish and now I’m thinking about them again, I’ve just nipped downstairs to grab a handful and now I’ve got paprika on the keyboard, dammit. If you like spicy nuts and nibbles (stop giggling, you mucky pups), you’ll love these.

If you need to churn out party-sized batches without hogging the kitchen counter, check out the commercial-capacity air fryers at 247 FFD Catering – they deliver the same crunchy goodness on a much bigger scale, perfect for cafés, food stalls, or just seriously hungry friends.
