Just when you thought Dozer’s bloated sense of self importance couldn’t get any worse, he’s weaselled his way into a children’s book….. Introducing: Row Row Row Your Boat (with Monsters) by Adam Simpson, featuring DOZER!!!🐶🌟
Every year I feel like Dozer has achieved his career high. He is, after all, 13 (!), and after his guest appearance on Play School last year, everyone was convinced he’d peaked.
Yet here we are…….but I am certain we cannot top this. DOZER IN A PICTURE BOOK!!! There are not enough exclamation marks in this world to communicate my excitement!!!!!!
And if that weren’t enough, all the author proceeds from this book are being donated to One Meal, the not-for-profit charity that distributes the meals we make at RecipeTin Meals to those in need all across Sydney. 🥰
This picture book featuring Dozer – Row Row Row Your Boat (With Monsters) – will be released on 11 November 2025 and I can’t wait for you to see it! Suitable for children from 3+ years and it’s available for pre-order from today:

How did this happen??!
I know, right?? Sounds so random! I want to tell you that Dozer was “discovered” at the dog park by an agent, but the truth is not as glamorous! (Also, I am his agent 😅).
The author of this book is Adam Simpson who is a partner at the law firm Simpsons that provides legal services for my business. In conversation a few months ago, he mentioned he had written a children’s picture book for his young daughters (hidden talent!) and asked how I’d feel about the dog featured in it being Dozer. That in itself was exciting, but when he added that all his proceeds would be donated to One Meal, it sealed the deal.
So, as unusual as it might sound (my lawyer!), it feels very natural and right, and because it’s for a not-for-profit that I am closely aligned with, it’s a privilege to be involved!
This is Adam Simpson, in the photo below. The lawyer Adam on the left, and Adam outside the office, looking much more like an author! I don’t know why I felt the need to share both, side by side no less, and honestly, what do I know about what an author should look like? 😆
Tell me about Dozer’s book!
Row, Row, Row Your Boat (With Monsters) is a book that is read (sung!) to the famous nursery rhyme “Row, Row, Row your boat”. 🎶 It’s about a night-time adventure starring Dozer as the dog of two children who travel through imaginative landscapes in search of the things that go BUMP in the night.
Adam wrote the book for his two daughters, Charlotte and Madeleine, to encourage curiosity and boldness, particularly in the face of things that may be, at first, rather frightening. It’s a book suitable for children 3+.
The illustrations are by Gypsy Taylor who is an award-winning designer and illustrator whose career spans film, TV, commercials and animations. I love the fun way she interpreted Dozer in the pictures – fun and cute!
Will there be a book tour??!!!
I hope so! Dozer is working hard to stay fit and well (and I am working on my singing!) so he can join me for special events, like readings in store. I see bed time stories, pillow fights, cookie decorations and Dozer PJ’s!!!!😂
It will only be in Sydney and surrounds though, as unfortunately Dozer can’t travel interstate.
(PS If you’re wondering what that pink thing on Dozer’s head is, it’s my sleeping mask. The vision in my head was cuter – looking at it now, it looks more like a baby bonnet gone wrong 😅).
Available for pre-order from today!
I’ve got so much fun stuff to share in the coming months for Dozer’s picture book! It’s available for pre-order from today and will be released on 11 November 2025:

And finally – a big thank you to Adam Simpson for selecting DOZER to feature in his book!! And for so generously choosing to donate all the royalties from his book to One Meal, the wonderful organisation we partner with to get RecipeTin Meals into the hands of people across Sydney who need them. Because no one should go hungry. ❤️

FAQ
Because the author proceeds are being donated to a not-for-profit that I am closely aligned to (One Meal) and Dozer is in it!
I am not being paid in any form. I have no financial interest in Row, Row, Row Your Boat (With Monsters) at all, I don’t get commissions from people clicking the link to pre-order the book. I am genuinely doing this because it’s for a good cause, the book is cute, Adam Simpson is a good person and also because it’s fun! 🙂
Adam Simpson is a lawyer by day and children’s book author by night! He is a partner at Simpsons law firm in Sydney whose services I employ for legal advice for my business – corporate and HR matters, to name a few things. Running RecipeTin is not all cakes and pasta, sadly! 😂
It was definitely a surprise when he approached me to ask how I’d feel about making Dozer the dog in his book – you don’t expect your suited up lawyer to talk commercial law in one sentence then a picture book about monsters in the next breath (!). But it wasn’t a hard decision to make once he told me he wanted to donate all the proceeds to charity.
Plus – Dozer. Any project involving Dozer is fun!
Adam Simpson, the author, has undertaken to donate all the royalties he receives from the sale of the book to charities. Royalties are paid bi-annually by the publisher.
The first charity he has nominated to receive the royalties is One Meal Northern Beaches, a not-for-profit that aims to fight hunger that I am aligned with (they distribute the meals we make at RTM all across Sydney), and this is printed on the cover of the book.
One Meal Northern Beaches is a not-for-profit organisation based in Brookvale in the Northern Beaches. They distribute the meals we make at RecipeTin Meals every day to those in need – we’re currently donating 600 every day (plus desserts!).
The way I describe it to people – we do the cooking, and One Meal do the distribution, They determine where the meals should go and arrange for the delivery of the meals to those locations. Some go directly to families or individuals, some go to shelters, some go to distribution points where recipients know they can go to collect meals at a given time every week.
Back when One Meal first started, the meals were only distributed in the Northern Beaches area. But for the past few years, meals are going out all across Sydney and even to lower areas of the Central Coast.
The book is being published by Pan Macmillan who is the publisher of both my cookbooks. Which makes this even more natural and fun, because we’re working with a team that I already know and enjoy working with!
The dog door in the house plans had to be upsized.
