“Build Your Own” Dinner Option
“Build your own” bars are a fun way to serve dinner when everyone’s schedule is upside-down- and they’re perfect for picky eaters too.
Try one of these:
Burger Bar: Use pre-cooked frozen veggie burgers or deli-style turkey burgers. Offer buns, lettuce, tomato, cheese, pickles, ketchup, and mustard.
Quesadilla Bar: Use tortillas, shredded cheese, beans, pre-cooked chicken, guacamole, and salsa. Let everyone fill and fold—serve cold or microwave for 30 seconds.
Pizza Bar: Use pita bread or flatbreads, pizza sauce, shredded cheese, and toppings like veggies, pepperoni, or olives. Optional: warm in a toaster oven.
Yogurt Parfait Bar: Great for breakfast-for-dinner. Offer yogurt, fruit, granola, chia seeds, and nut butter.
Serve everything family-style and let the kids build their own. It’s like dinner and an activity in one.
